Fall Center Activities
I love finding items that I can use as math manipulatives. I found these acrylic leaves on Amazon and the children are having an amazing time sorting them into groups and creating patterns. Below are some more activities that I’ve created and placed for the children in their learning centers. Since I teach a mixed age group from (3-5 yrs) all of these activities are easily adaptable to their learning needs. As always when creating items for your little ones be sure that you model, model, and model over and over how to use the activities. Have FUN and make it enjoyable for them. Children crave attention so when they accomplish a task give them the appropriate praise and recognition! These activities also work great to informally assess the children and see how they are developing as they work with the material.
Trust the process. When children feel like they can make mistakes and know that “it’s okay", real learning takes place. Grab your activities below.
I created these pumpkin numbers and they fit perfectly in these molds. These counting ants were from another learning game that I actually bought from a school toy supply store, but you know us teachers are always finding new ways to reuse materials.
This is our counting wagon. I designed it in such a way that the children can place the number on the wagon and then count the corresponding pumpkins on top. These mats also work great for creating number stories with the children.
I created this letter mat activity for the children to match uppercase to lowercase letters. All of the letters of the alphabet are included in this packet. All you have to do is to print the mats on heavy card stock and then laminate them. These wax stick easily stick to the cards for the children to match the letters.
I love these magnetic letters from Learning Resources. I created this mat for the children to practice matching the letters and for finding uppercase/lowercase letters.
Oh oh, the acorns have lost their tops! Children match corresponding letters. This activity takes a little time to prepare because you have to print, cut, and add the velcro to both the tops and the mats but I assure you the children will learn a lot from it.
This activity is perfect for the writing centers. I had the children create their own scarecrows, then the compared and contrasted the scarecrows clothing. The children also matched the words and labeled their drawings. Grab yours below for FREE!
Children match Spanish alphabet letters to the letter mats. Includes 8 mats.
Children count out manipulatives to match the number on the mat. The numbers are interchangeable.
